EXPERIENCE

Prior to qualifying as a Social Worker, I spent some time working as a Residential Support Worker, working with children and young people with a range of difficulties.

After achieving my DipSW, I initially worked in a Children and Families Team where I developed an interest in the needs of Looked After Children.  I was then lucky enough to spend 14 years working in a multi-agency team specialising in providing attachment focused therapeutic interventions for children who are Looked After and Adopted, their parents, carers and the professional network around them.

Whilst working alongside Dr Kim Golding, I was given the opportunity to learn that by utilising attachment informed interventions, in our work with parents, carers and networks, we can unlock the powerful impact that understanding the attachment histories of our children can have; in understanding and creating an environment of empathy both for them, and also those parenting them.
